Issues surrounding creating a colour managed PDF workflow. PDF/X3 and PDF/X1-a . LECTURE & PRACTICAL: OPTIMISING THE WORKPLACE FOR COLOUR WORK

Standard viewing conditions, including room colour temperature, monitor set-up and inspection procedure for analysing proofs for designers, pre-press and press operators.

LECTURE: COLOUR CONVERSION AND INTERPRETATION

Colour space conversion and the importance of the black generation settings, total ink limits, and the default/custom software settings using Photoshop.

PRACTICAL: LINEARISING THE RIP AND THE RELEVANCE TO COLOUR MANAGEMENT

Linearising a Harlequin RIP using Harlequin software. Calibrating a print down frame using a linearised test strip.

PRACTICAL: CREATING A CUSTOM TEST SHEET

Using Adobe Illustrator and QuarkXPress to layout a test sheet with all necessary colour measurement devices and quality control bars for both linearisation and fingerprinting purposes.

LECTURE & PRACTICAL: PRESS STANDARDISATION USING A KOMORI 4 COLOUR PRESS
