This is on the job work based print training and evidence is built up over a period of time. Certain core skills are required during this process along with the specialist options that are added depending on what you are doing that helps with the business you are working in. Leeds College of Technology would draw up a programme of training and provides guidance and assessment. As the training is done in the workplace, employers also oversee the development of their trainees.

(Top of page)
Everyone can take part in the Print NVQ scheme at any age and at every level of the organisation. If you already have experience - this can help you! Your current level of skills and experience on equipment is taken into account when designing your course with advice from Leeds College of Technology Assessors.

All Print NVQ are designed to be assessed in the workplace using equipment you are familiar with. If a company has a desire to appoint their own Print NVQ assessor; Leeds College of Technology can provide a flexible learning package designed to train them up to become a fully qualified assessor. Leeds College of Technology will provide an external workplace assessor who has worked and has the expertise in the particular specialism of the print industry. As part of this service we will also deliver a short training programme to enable the supervisor or instructor to become an Expert Witness.
Print NVQ workbooks

To assist the trainees to achieve the Print NVQ at Levels 2 and 3, our assessors have developed a series of Print NVQ workbooks in the form of flexible learning packages. Each of these packages relates to a unit within the Print NVQ structure for print production and print administration. These packages are designed to take the candidate through the learning process and provide evidence of their abilities in a portfolio.

Print National Vocational Qualifications are the modern way to provide practical, vocational training focused on meeting business needs. They build up the skills actually needed in the workplace today and provide a recognised qualification. The central feature of a Print NVQ is the National Occupational Standards (NOS) on which they are based. NOS are statements of performance standards which describe what competent people in a particular occupation are expected to be able to do. They cover all the main aspects of an occupation, including current best practice, the ability to adapt to future requirements and the knowledge and understanding which underpins competent performance. The Print NVQ standards are developed by Standard Setting Bodies specific for the print industry. |
